The new Madison Central Academic Foundation was founded in December, 2007. The mission of the new 501C3 organization is to provide educational improvements at Madison Central High School. The Foundation is seeking nontraditional funding through grants but is also relying heavily on donations from community businesses, friends and family. This spring, the Foundation was awarded a $22,500.00 grant from the Madison County Foundation as a seed contribution. Proceeds from the 2008 PTO Hybrid Car Raffle promotion made it possible for us to receive this matching grant. Leslie Bounds, attorney with Copeland, Cook, Taylor, & Bush has written the by-laws and filed the necessary legal documentation to make it possible for the foundation to qualify as a 501C3 organization. Tellus Operating Group LLC has made a generous $5,000.00 contribution. We appreciate the support of these generous community sponsors. The current goal of the Foundation is to complete the funding of EcoTech, the school’s commitment to place new technology in each classroom. Over 53% of our classrooms now have mimio boards, laptops and podcasting equipment; 30% are in progress and 17% have not begun. If you would like to learn more about the foundation and/or would like to make a charitable donation for enhanced education at Madison Central, please contact the school (601) 856-7121 or one of the following board MC Foundation board members: Brian Smith, Courtney Arnold, Lori Coleman, Andy Taggart, Dianne Black, Michele McDonald, Kim Kelly and Reed Ingram. |
