The AP Chemistry course is
designed to be the equivalent of the general chemistry course
usually taken during the first college year. Topics of study
include, but are not limited to, Structure of matter (atomic
theory, atomic structure, chemical bonding, nuclear chemistry),
States of Matter (gases, liquids, solids, solutions), Reactions
(acid-base, redox, precipitation, stoichiometry, equilibrium,
kinetics, thermodynamics), and Descriptive Chemistry. 22 laboratory
experiments have been recommended for the AP Chemistry program
by the College board, and laboratory work may require students
to attend class before/after school.
