AP Physics B is a trigonometry-based
course, which includes topics in both classical and modern
physics. Specific topics covered in Physics B include, but
are not limited to, Newtonian Mechanics (Kinematics - motion
in one and two dimensions, Newton's Laws of motion, Work,
energy, power, Systems of Particles and linear momentum, circular
motion and rotation, oscillations and gravitation), Fluid
Mechanics and Thermal PHysics (buoyancy, temperature and heat,
kinetic theory and thermodynamics), Electricity and Magnetism
(electrostatics, conductors, capacitors and dielectrics, electric
circuits, magnetostatics, electromagnetism), Waves and Optics
(wave motion, sound, light, physical optics, geometric optics
such as reflection and refraction), Atomic and Nuclear Physics.
AP Physics B is recommended for students who may be interested
in studying physicsa s a basis for more advanced work in the
life sciences, medicine, geology, and related areas.
