Welcome to Madison Avenue K-2 Elementary School.
The theme for our school (Be Safe-Be Respectful-Be
Responsible) focuses on maintaining a positive learning environment. We
are very proud to report that MAE has maintained our Level 5
accreditation rating according to the Mississippi Department of
Education leveling system for our feeder school, Madison Avenue Upper
Elementary.
We have some wonderful academic programs in place at our school. Students continue to excel in Math, Reading and Language.
Thematic Units of studies are integrated with Science and Social
Studies. Our curriculum is age appropriate and developmentally
appropriate to meet the needs of our age level. The curriculum is
aligned with the new Mississippi Department of Education Frameworks,
which can be viewed at www.mde.k12.ms.us.
In addition to the excellent academic programs,
students receive instruction in Music, Physical Education, PAthways
(Gifted Program),Computer, Library, Character Education, and Arts. Our
Arts program is funded in part by a grant received from the Mississippi
Arts Commission and matched with funds provided by the PTO.
After-school Spanish and Strings classes are also offered.
At MAE, we are also very fortunate to have a
wonderful PTO. They assist our school in many, many ways to make sure
our students are receiving the finest education possible.
