Welcome to the Computer Lab!

Here at Madison Avenue Elementary our students “DO LEXIA.” The first half of the school year is devoted to building the foundational skills that students need in order to read or become better readers. We use an award-winning program called Lexia to accomplish this goal. (Click on the link below.)
Students complete grade-appropriate activities on the computer. With the use of color-coded bars students can immediately see their achievements and trouble areas. Students progress at their own pace. They receive a sticker for every activity bar they complete. They get a certificate and small treat when they advance to the next level in Lexia. Our students are hard-working and motivated and equipped with stronger reading skills! For the second half of the school year, we continue to “Do Lexia,” but we also teach beginning computer skills. We review basic computer terminology at all grade levels. Kindergarten students utilize Kid Pix, a kid-friendly art program. 1stgraders and 2ndgraders develop basic keyboarding skills through fun keyboarding games and websites. At all grade levels we introduce and develop word processing skills in Microsoft Word.
